Spirit Visions invites visitors to explore how artists interpret Native American culture through their art. Focusing primarily on tribes from the American southwest, the exhibition features over 40 artworks, ranging from sculptures to prints and paintings. Dances, vision quests, and other tribal ceremonies are depicted, inviting the viewer to more fully understand the rich heritage of these indigenous people.

Forged in Friendship: A Donor’s Family Befriends Famous Artist

Peter Witt and his wife, Joyce Nies, have donated a portion of their Native American and Inuit art collection to the Texas A&M University Art Galleries in memory of Peter’s parents, Bert and Ellen Witt. The Witt’s had a special friendship with the world-renowned sculptor, Allan Houser.

Peter and Joyce donated two Houser sculptures they inherited, both of which appear in the exhibition Spirit Visions.
