Thank You Mr. President: Gifts of Appreciation from the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum

September 16 – December 18, 2015

While serving as the 41st President of the United States, George H.W. Bush was the recipient of thousands of gifts of recognition and appreciation. From Lego replicas of the White House to t-shirts, from silver belt buckles to Christmas ornaments, President Bush, as well as all other U.S. Presidents, receive an astounding array of gifts (approximately 50,000 per four-year term) from both U.S. citizens and from citizens abroad. Thank You Mr. President highlights a sample of these presidential gifts from the George H.W. Bush administration, and also provides an overview of the many steps a gift takes from the moment it is actually given to the President to when it finally arrives in the collection of a President Library and Museum.
