Docent Programs

Docents are energetic, friendly, articulate volunteers who learn about the collections, help plan special events, give tours, and offer general support to the UART programs on the campus of Texas A&M University. Docents will have an opportunity to study and learn about art of all kinds and how it is created, meet with active artists, as well as travel to other museums. In addition to giving tours, the docents also help to develop hands-on programs for children and other community outreach programs.

Benefits of being a docent

  • Discounts on some purchases at our museum shops
  • Monthly newsletter informing you of upcoming events and other art-related news
  • A docent manual including information on the arts on-campus

Other Volunteer Opportunities

There are many sculptures on the Texas A&M campus. We periodically have sculpture cleaning to keep them clean and beautiful. For this purpose we would like to have volunteers who are enthusiastic and motivated for preserving the art on campus.

We have had many students in past as volunteers to help us with the sculpture cleaning. Contact Amanda Cagle: acagle@uart.tamu.edu to register as volunteer for sculpture cleaning.
